The longest day...

We knew yesterday and today were going to be tough. We could see them creeping up on the calendar. Yesterday, we continued packing up the house (Hannah picked up where Dave left off and has the packing brilliance of someone who has moved a zillion times in a very short period of time). I drove to Ottawa to get one last hair cut and play one last game of Ultimate with my team Plutonic Love and then got up this morning at 4:30am to drive back to Montreal to finish packing boxes and start packing up the truck with Rich. At about 2pm we were ready to head back to Ottawa with a full truck and, after the 2 hours of driving necessary to get to my mum's place, we spent the next 3 hours unpacking the truck. After a little sit down (read: pass out) we'll fill our tummies, fill up the gas tank, hop back in our empty truck and head back to Montreal to our empty house. Then, there'll be sleep...

The strangest thing is that this whole thing still really hasn't hit me. It hit Rich a couple of weeks ago and I have my moments where it seems real but, for the most part, it still hasn't sunk in for me that we're about to leave everything for more than a year with nothing but a backpack on our backs. I'm thinking it'll hit me when we're at the airport. We'll see. For now, I'm happy just checking things off the to-do list. Still lots to do and only 4 days in which to do it. Wish us luck!
